We read fun Valentine books and learned about one of the most popular shapes around here hearts! So Many Hearts!!! Our VIP shared her poster and her mom and grandmajoined us for lunch one day! Thank you for coming!
This week we read a few different Gingerbread stories. We painted with paint that smelled like Gingerbread... we made and played with Gingerbread play dough... we made applesauce/cinnamon ornaments that smell so good. Friday we made and ate Gingerbread cookies. We had a delicious smelling week! Our VIP shared some of his favorite things, his poster, Adventures with Norman, and his daddy joined us for lunch on Thursday! REMINDER- our party is on the 21st from 10:00-11:00 we are asking each child to bring a wrapped children's book for our gift exchange. We are having a Parents Night Out on the 22nd from 5:00-10:00 sign up sheet is on the counter in the office with all of the details. PLA will be closed for Christmas break from Dec. 22nd-Jan 2nd.
Who is Eric Carle? He is a children's book author and illustrator. Some of his most popular books are The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Tiny Seed, and Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? His artwork is created in collage technique, using hand-painted papers, which he cuts and layers to form bright and cheerful images." We made our own Eric Carle inspired artwork this week. We painted newsprint with watercolor on Tuesday. Wednesday we cut the paper. Thursday and Friday we created artwork by gluing the shapes on cardstock.
This week we learned about the first Thanksgiving. We also talked more about what we are thankful for and our favorite Thanksgiving food! We learned two Thanksgiving songs "The Cranberry Rolled Away" and "Albuquerque Turkey" We discovered cranberries float and they are yummy after they are cooked, but not before! We learned that Native Americans communicated with pictures and we tried the same with our whiteboards. We painted with feathers, watercolored a feather, and made a turkey.
