A month of highlights

The last month of school is always crazy... I also started a 2nd job on top of that... so, I have not updated the blog in a very long time!! Sorry about that. Getting to know each other

We have had our official first day of preschool and welcomed so many new friends!! It is going to be a great year!! We have 24 enrolled kiddos with 14 girls and 10 boys. We have used this week to get used to our schedule, transitions, and of course lots and lots of play!

Eggs 🥚

 "Chickens Aren't the Only Ones" was the book we started with this week. We learned all birds, insects, most snakes, reptiles, and even 2 mammals lay eggs. If an animal lays an egg it is called oviparious. We made a rubber egg by putting eggs in vinegar. We also did a diversity activity by looking at and discussing the differences in a brown and white egg, and similarities especially how they are the same on the inside.

Circles, Spots, and Polka-dots

Do you have a favorite shape? Mine is a circle... I don't know why, but circles just make me happy! So... when I saw a review of this book about this artist that covered everything in dots I had to have the book and make it a theme of the week! The artist is Yayoi Kusama and yes google had to help us pronounce her name correctly.  It was such a fun theme... we covered our light table area in white paper and the kids covered the paper with dot stickers. So fun!! We are still working on it this week! Bonus... stickers are a wonderful fine motor activity!   "The Dot" is another one of my favorite books. It is an awesome process art book. We had so much fun painting, coloring, and dotting circles!!
